October Shared Trail Ride

The writeup for this posting comes from the White Mountain Open Trails Association Facebook Page. A big thank you to James Nelson (Bear) for sharing the wonderful photos.

Today we traveled from Snowflake to the gorge of Silver Creek, followed the creek to the historic Woodruff dam where Silver Creek meets the Little Colorado river as it heads up to Holbrook.

We crossed the historic one lane bridge over the Little Colorado River and then onto the Mollogon plateau following the Little Colorado river east and south till we crossed it on the Wengert Ranch. After recent rains the water was flowing fast but not too deep which made for an exciting crossing.

Then we headed back to our base camp at the Rockin LC Ranch owned by the Griffin family.

To end the day we enjoyed a wonderful pot-luck dinner with turkey, ham and all the fixins. WMOTA's October camp and ride, we also included the members of the Apache Co. ATV club which made the event even more special.

26 rigs made the ride and over 50 people enjoyed the dinner. This was also our final Poker Ride of the year which is a fundraiser for the club. Boyce won first prize with 3 of a kind, Larry won second prize with a smaller 3 of a kind. Prizes were handed out 5 winners.

A great time was had by all. We will add more photos to the album as we get them from those enjoying the ride and festivities.
