May 2015 combined Apache County ATV and WMOTA camp and ride.

This month’s combined Apache County ATV and WMOTA campout and multiple rides was a huge success. Some might argue the first week’s rain, snow, and very cold weather, for the end of May, really ruined the first week of camping and riding. Those who were camped and rode would certainly say it was a wonderful time. The pancake breakfast that was hosted by members of WMOTA was over the top. Members of both clubs worked very hard on the preparation the day before and Saturday morning and Sunday morning tear down. The pictures seem to tell it all, look at the happy and smiling faces.

There were several rides for trail clearing before the actual scheduled Slaughter Circle ride. Hats off to the many riders, from both clubs, that worked very hard to cut and remove downed trees that were blocking the Slaughter Circle, Lawman Short, and Horton Creek trails. The scheduled Slaughter Circle ride was a huge success, judging by the number of riders from both clubs. There we 27 OHVs that participated in the ride. The weather was a little on the chilly side, but that is the reason we all have winter clothing for riding. The ride leader warned significant mud would be encountered on the trail. It had been muddy when cleared, but most of the mud had dried up before the ride. If there was a down side to the ride it was a ride leader who made a couple of wrong turns and this required the other riders to have to turn around. This makes the ride leader a prime candidate for the “flag” for this month.
