Ride Information

Apache County ATV February Club Ride

This month’s ride will be Punkin Center to Young, with lunch at the Antlers. Yes, the Antlers restaurant is now open so we will be able to get lunch there. This is a long ride at 96 miles, so it will be a long day. The distance from Springerville/Eagar, or Vernon where I live, to the Punkin Center staging area makes it impractical to drive to the staging area from home and do the ride. For this reason, we plan to get a room in Payson Friday and Saturday, February 9th & 10th. We stay at the Quality Inn because they have good parking for truck and trailers and the rates are okay.

The ride can be dusty or muddy, it depends on whether the area gets any moisture. There are a few areas where it is rocky, but overall the ride is an easy ride. Be sure to bring water, snacks, and have your machine full of fuel. There is fuel in Young if it is needed. We will depart the staging area at 8:30 am, make a stop at the under the road cave on the trip to Young. The staging area is shown on the attached maps. Getting to the staging area does require crossing the Verde River. This is not an issue unless there is some significant rain in the area. When we depart the Antlers, we can take a loop ride along Cherry Creek or head back home the way we came. It will depend on time and how the group feels. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I can be reached by calling 928-242-3430.
